'The Glass Lady - Flameworking Studio and Gallery, Glass Making

Demonstrations, Jewellery, Art and Antiques, Courses and Workshops

The Glass Lady is a newly established flameworking glass studio and gallery in the Courtyard of the Old Granary building.  Combining the passions of artist owner, Caroline Weidman, for glass, art and antiques, there is a range of work by Caroline for sale and selected work by other artists.  Stained glass pieces, restored items and general antiques can be found in the attached Smokehouse building and outside space.

Regular demonstrations of sculptural flameworking and glass beadmaking can be viewed from the area in front of the main cabin windows.  Courses and workshops in various aspects of glass making alongside regular classes are available.  Please call in to find out more.

Caroline has been working with glass for over 20 years, She has undertaken a number of commissions and restorations in and around the Essex area, including new stained glass windows for St Georges Church in Shoebury and the front door of Talliston House in Dunmow.  She has many years teaching experience in teaching glass work and is keen to continue sharing her knowledge and skills.  Her interest in sculptural flame work was kindled in 2011 , which resulted in her training on the Island of Murano.  After many years of practice and selling her work locally, she was invited to demonstrate at the 2019 Flame Off event in Uttoxeter, which showcased some of the best lampworkers from around the world.  Her glass figurines were exhibited at the International Festival of Glass in Stourbridge in 2024.

Visitors and enquiries for commissions are always welcome.'
