Having transitioned from a high-level executive career in international companies, the author, a passionate enthusiast of art, live music, theatre, film, and historical experiences, found herself drawn to a more fulfilling life centered around inspiring and delighting others. A pivotal moment occurred during a visit to Battlesbridge Antiques Village with a recently redundant friend. Upon learning that the tearoom within the Old Granary was available, she impulsively expressed her interest in running it.
With the belief and support of John, her vision for the tearoom became a reality. The space was lovingly decorated, and the aim was to offer food exceeding typical cafe fare within a historically rich setting that evokes the granary's past. While updated with modern equipment, the original pulley wheel remains a prominent feature. Renamed The Riverview Tearoom to reflect its scenic location, it quickly reopened to serve visitors of the antiques centre.
Currently in its second phase, the tearoom is expanding its menu and focusing on enhancing the customer experience with the introduction of light vintage music and at-table digital ordering for efficiency. Exciting future offerings include Alice in Wonderland-themed cream and afternoon teas designed for all ages and occasions. The author expresses immense gratitude to the Battlesbridge team and their customers for their warm welcome and support in making this dream a reality.
